Croquet is an English classic, and ideal for a multitude of events from Wedding Receptions to Corporate Days, Private Parties and Company BBQ’s.

While away your afternoon with a game on the lawn with our high-quality Croquet Set, complete with 6 adult mallets, 2 intermediate mallets, hoops and 8 balls.

Rules as defined by the Croquet Association of England:

There are two main variants of the game played in the UK: Golf Croquet and Association Croquet (International Rules).

In the more commonly played Golf Croquet (or ‘the sequence game’) the objective of each player is to get his ball(s) through each hoop first. When the first hoop is scored all players move on to the second hoop, and so on. Each turn comprises only one stroke. The merit of Golf Croquet is simplicity.

In Association Croquet, a large number of different strokes are used to achieve various aims. Once one ball is struck (‘roqueted’) it allows two further strokes – the croquet stroke, where the player’s ball is placed next to the ball roqueted and both are struck, and a continuation stroke, in which another ball may be roqueted or a hoop run. In this way, breaks are established and it is not uncommon for a good player to take a ball through every hoop in one turn. In Association Croquet both of a player’s balls have to go through every hoop (that is twelve – each is run in both directions) and hit the peg to win.

Please note that we have a minimum hire fee of £400 + VAT so we usually only hire these games as part of packages rather than individually.

How many people can play Croquet?

Croquet can be played individually, in a pair or in teams.

Can anyone use Croquet?

Players of all ages can play. Anyone deemed to be in an ‘unfit’ state to play due to the influence of alcohol or drugs may be refused on.

Can Croquet be used outside?

Croquet is suitable for outdoor events. Please see specifications tab for unit and space dimensions.

Can Croquet be used indoors?

Croquet is not suitable for Indoor events.

Does Croquet require a power supply?

No, Croquet does not require a mains power supply.

Do I need to supply anything or does Croquet come with everything it needs?

Other than providing an area to set up on, we supply everything required to run the game.

How long does Croquet take to set up?

Depending on the ease of access, Croquet will take our staff approximately 15mins to set up.


Does Croquet come with someone to run the activity?

Yes, our staff (CRB/DBS checked and 1st aid trained) will remain with the game throughout your event. They will give all players a briefing of how the game works and run each game for you, recording scores where necessary.

How safe is Croquet?

Sessions are run by fully trained, experienced staff member (staff are first aid trained and CRB/DBS checked). We also operate with £10 million public liability insurance and have full risk assessments (copies of which are available on request).


How much does it cost to hire the Croquet Set?

We will tailor-make each Croquet Set hire quote to the specifics of an enquiry. The Croquet Set hire cost is dependent on factors such as your location, length of hire, date of hire and whether or not any other pieces of equipment are being hired for the same event, etc.

Are there any additional costs?

The quote we send to you is all-inclusive so there are no hidden extras to be wary of.

How do I book?

Give us a call or send an e-mail and we can check your desired date(s) for availability and give you a quote. When you are ready to confirm, we will send out a booking form, complete with the booking terms and conditions to check over. Once filled in, please return it to us along with payment.  We take a 25% deposit to secure a booking date and the balance is due 1 month before the hire date. Then sit back and count down the days until we arrive!

Are there options to customize our hire to advertise a product or event?

Staff uniform can certainly be tailored to advertise a chosen product or event and if you do have any other specific ideas please do get in touch and we can see how we can help!

How far will Altitude travel for an event?

Although we are based in the South East, we will travel anywhere to do an event.  However, if it is very far from our base, the price will reflect this. Primarily our Croquet Set attends events held in East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Essex, Berkshire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and London.  Please contact us for further information if this is something that you would be interested in.
